Nature, culture and history are brought together in the villages of this area located in the northwest part of the Region of Madrid, with the Manzanares River as the backbone and the river flow of the crystal waters that go down the mountains of the Guadarrama Range.

The Jarama River starts as a natural border between Madrid and Guadalajara and enters the province of Guadalajara near the famous forest Hayedo de Montejo. It then returns to Madrid where it is joined by the Lozoya River, forming an extensive and fertile valley known as the Jarama Valley.
Built in 1972, El Atazar reservoir is the biggest reservoir of the Region of Madrid. It brought together some of the best lands of the municipality with the same name, from the known Molino de Riato until a road that connected it with the municipality of Cervera de Buitrago.
