LOWER VALLEY OF LOZOYA

In the Atazar reservoir, the largest in the region of Madrid, and its surroundings you can enjoy its countless paths and villages (El Atazar, El Berrueco, Cervera de Buitrago, Patones, Puentes Viejas and Robledillo de la Jara), as well as have fun with the practice of water sports such as sailing, boat rentals, windsurfing and, of course, fishing.

One of the possibilities we have is to walk some sections of the Senda del Genaro that surrounds El Atazar with 70 kilometers of circular itinerary, we have prepared 7 geolocated itineraries.

The more adventurous can opt for sports such as paragliding, climbing, horseback riding and even donkey rides! If the visitor prefers a quieter plan, he can visit the Territory-Museum created around the reservoir, which has 7 museums distributed in the different villages of the area. We suggest starting the route in the town of Cinco Villas and stroll through its quiet streets. We continue our itinerary towards El Berrueco, where we will find the Museum of Water and Hydraulic Heritage.

We can continue to El Atazar, the village that gives its name to the reservoir where water sports are very popular. We continue to Cervera de Buitrago, where we will live a new experience in the Museum of the Senses, created to know in depth the nature of the reservoir of El Atazar through the five senses.

If what we want is to go back to the past, our next stop is the Museum of the Ways of Life of the Past, located in the old weaving mill of Robledillo de la Jara, it will help us to know more in depth the oldest and most traditional trades of the area.

Finally, we can go to the Forge Museum in Paredes de Buitrago, recovering the traditional figure of the blacksmith and the forger, in a typically traditional environment, and the Stone Museum in Mangirón. Before we can walk through the beautiful village of Berzosa de Lozoya, at the foot of the hill of "La Mujer Muerta". If what you want is to forget the mundane noise you have to go to Puentes Viejas.

If you want to take a break and enjoy a good meal, there are numerous restaurants that preserve the mountain tradition. The veal of the Sierra de Guadarrama, which has denomination of origin, stands out. All the villages in the area have a wide range of rural accommodation.
