XXII edition of the Iberoamerican Festival of the Golden Age. Classics in Alcalá

 

From June 9th to July 2nd enjoy the theater in Alcalá de Henares.

Clásicos en Alcalá celebrates our Golden Age in different scenic and monumental spaces of the city of Alcalá, with more than 50 activities, including performances, academic conferences, round tables, book presentations, concerts and exhibitions. The Festival Iberoamericano del Siglo de Oro de la Comunidad de Madrid. Clásicos en Alcalá will put on stage all kinds of scenic proposals, both in their classical version and from a contemporary conception between June 9 and July 2.

It opens with the world premiere of a contemporary opera for Baroque orchestra, produced in collaboration with the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo of Bogota and the Chapelle Harmonique, La vida es sueño, with music by Juan Pablo Carreño and libretto by Iván Olano Duque, musical direction by Valentín Tournet and stage direction by veteran Alejandro Chacón (Teatro Salón Cervantes, June 9 and 10).

Likewise, José Luis Alonso de Santos, newly awarded the Culture Prize of the Community of Madrid, will present his latest work, Mil amaneceres, produced by the Teatro del Temple and directed by Carlos Martín. The premiere (Corral de Comedias, June 10 and 11) will be accompanied, as a tribute to the artistic production of the author, with two round tables prior to the performances on "The scenic metaphor from Calderón to Alonso de Santos".

Likewise, in order to give visibility and support to the scenic creation rooted in the city, the second edition of the cycle Creación Alcalá will be held, dedicated on this occasion to Miguel de Cervantes. Within this section, Teatro La Jara performs Los habladores (Plaza de las Bernardas, June 10); and the company Légolas, el Retablo del emperador (Auditorio Centro Cultural Gilitos, June 10). Finally, AnaQronías: las mujeres de El Quijote, en imágenes, will bring to the exterior of the Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes the photographs of Juan Cerón on female characters of Don Quixote.
