"Los santos inocentes", Miguel Delibes en Matadero Madrid

 

Until 11 June, Matadero Madrid is hosting an adaptation of the modern classic "Los santos inocentes", the great work by Miguel Delibes, which can be seen in the Fernando Arrabal Hall in Nave 11.

Playwright Javier Hernández-Simón joins forces with novelist Fernando Marías to bring this modern version of Delibes' modern classic to the stage. The play is directed by Javier Gutiérrez, who holds two Goya awards for his roles in the films "La Isla Mínima" and "El Autor".

The cast is joined on stage by Fernando Huesca, Marta Gómez, Luis Bermejo, Pepa Pedroche and Raquel Varela, among others. This play has received the Talía 2023 Award for best show and supporting actor.

Delibes' novel takes on stage form to represent the 1960s during Franco's dictatorship and the social situation of Extremadura's agricultural sector. The story tells the adventures of Paco, Régula and their four children, who give name and voice to the portrait of the deep Spain of the time, its limitations and aspirations, its circumstances. The novel soon achieved worldwide recognition and became a modern classic.

The performance lasts 105 minutes and takes place in the Sala Fernando Arrabal, Nave 11, at Naves del Español in Matadero Madrid. It can be enjoyed from Tuesday to Sunday until 11 June.
