Tourism in Madrid
The town of Nuevo Baztán was founded at the beginning of the 18th century by Juan de Goyeneche y Gastón as an agricultural and manufacturing center for products in demand at the time. Its name "Nuevo Baztán" is related to the town of Baztán, in Navarra, where Juan de Goyeneche came from. It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1941 and an Asset of Cultural Interest at the beginning of the year 2000. We have prepared a geolocated route so that you do not miss the most important of this town of Madrid.
When you arrive at the monumental complex, you will be greeted by the splendid façade of the Goyeneche Palace-Church, which was the place of residence of the founder Juan de Goyeneche and housed the administrative core of the factories and industries.
We recommend that you begin your visit at the Interpretation Center, the former cellar of the palace, where you can learn about the scope of the industrial project through its models and audiovisual projections. Take a stroll through the town and walk through its streets and squares, where in the golden age of Hollywood films such as "El Zorro", "The Return of the Magnificent Seven" or "The Three Musketeers" were shot, with the participation of actors such as Alain Delon, Charlton Heston, Lucia Bosé and Fernando Rey.
Complete the day tasting the typical gastronomy of the area in one of its restaurants or catering establishments. Enjoy a nice walk through its surroundings, for example following the Valmores path that starts in the historic center.
