SAN MARTÍN DE VALDEIGLESIAS

In San Martin de Valdeiglesias is a must visit the medieval stone castle of La Coracera and the botanical garden and park of plant sculptures of the town, 'the enchanted forest', after which you can always taste some wine from the D.O. Vinos de Madrid, purchase it in its wine shop and wineries in the region, or enjoy a typical dish like some potatoes revolconas, representative of the area.

It is also possible to make an excursion to the Visigothic cemetery that borders the Cerro de las Mesas and allows in a scenic setting to visit the ancient tombs, or another excursion, a little further north, to the Fuente de la Cancha, a watering hole that normally has no water but is worth it just for the views it offers.

The Pantano de San Juan is located nearby and is a recreational area for thousands of Madrilenians, who consider it the beach of Madrid. Surrounded by restaurants and rest areas, it will make you feel as if you were on an island paradise in the heart of the Peninsula. Here you will find nautical and summer leisure facilities, and campsites if you want to extend your stay in a familiar and safe environment.

Another route is the Andrinoso Trail to the Cerro de Mambroso. This trail, of great length, starts from the south of the town of San Martín de Valdeiglesias and passes through the Cerro de Castillejos. From there you will reach the Cañada Real, which coincides with the Arroyo de Majadal and passes through the Cerro de La Puebla. Following the trail you will find the Cerro de Mambroso, where the intense green will delight your eyes for a few minutes.

Combining nature, architecture, active and multi-adventure tourism, wine tourism and gastronomy may seem a complicated task, but everything is possible this summer in San Martín de Valdeiglesias.
