San Sebastián de los Reyes

SAN SEBASTIÁN DE LOS REYES

Best known for being a pole of attraction for companies, this town located 18 km north of Madrid is known for its bullfighting festivities, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest, and its shopping centers. In addition, it is worth visiting its parks and gardens, as well as the natural spaces that surround it.

Some of the municipal lands are inside one of the protected areas of the community: the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park. The Mediterranean forest of the Dehesa Boyal is within reach of those who want to get in touch with nature in its purest state.

The most outstanding architectural space of the term is, on the other hand, the parish church of San Sebastian, which was built in the sixteenth century in the Mudejar style. It is also worth visiting the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, housed in the El Caserón building in the Plaza de la Constitución, or attending one of the artistic manifestations expressed within the walls of the Adolfo Marsillach Auditorium.

The patron saint festivities of San Sebastián are held on January 20. However, the municipality is best known for the Fiestas del Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios (from August 25 to 31), declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. Like the Sanfermines, the "chupinazo" and the proclamation from the balcony by some personality set in motion a frenetic week of running bulls and bullfighting.

Its complete program includes activities for all audiences and ages: parades, exhibitions and theater, children's workshops, floral offerings and processions, fireworks, dances with orchestra and musical performances, "pequefiestas", equestrian shows and other proposals.
