Rozas de Madrid (Las)

LAS ROZAS

This residential area, which stands out for its commercial and leisure offer, is immersed in the rich natural environment of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park. It is an ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Practically half of its municipality is integrated in the Regional Park of the upper basin of the Manzanares, one of the main protected areas by the region of Madrid.

The festival of San Miguel, which is celebrated every September 29 and in which there is no lack of bull runs and other expressions related to the bullfighting and the pilgrimage of Our Lady of Retamar, which takes place on the first Monday of May, with the two main festivals that the visitor, and the locals, have to note in their annual recreational calendar.

Its main link with the past is the late Gothic parish church of San Miguel Arcángel, whose urban location has little to do with what is usual in medieval parish temples: far from being the central core of the population, it was erected on an elevation of the land, on one side of the village, away from the other buildings.
