The city of Madrid shows its most traditional and popular side during the fiestas of San Cayetano, San Lorenzo and Virgen de la Paloma, between August 2 and 15.
The fiestas of San Cayetano, San Lorenzo and Virgen de la Paloma transform the streets of Madrid into a vibrant scene of tradition and joy. From August 2 to 15, the capital dresses up to celebrate its most traditional side with a series of events that reflect the community and festive spirit of its most emblematic neighborhoods.
The festivities begin on August 7 with the San Cayetano fiestas in the Rastro/Embajadores neighborhood. The streets are filled with activities, including parades, verbenas and contests, all accompanied by the typical music of the region.
Later, on August 10th, Lavapiés becomes the epicenter of the celebrations in honor of San Lorenzo. This multicultural neighborhood offers a varied program, from concerts and popular dances to children's activities and sports. The mix of cultures and the warmth of its people make these festivities an unforgettable experience.
The festivities culminate with the fiestas of the Virgen de la Paloma in the La Latina neighborhood, from August 12 to 15. This event is perhaps the most awaited and loved by the people of Madrid. The procession of the Virgen de la Paloma is the highlight, where thousands of believers accompany the image in an emotional and devotional route. The streets are filled with food stalls, musical performances and traditional dances, creating a festive and family atmosphere.
