Tourism in Madrid
The Region of Madrid is committed to a summer cultural and leisure programme with more than 200 activities between 5 July and 1 September.
The programme kicks off on 5 July with the Escenas de Verano Festival, which presents a wide range of theater, dance, parades and circus performances.
Classical music lovers will be able to enjoy the Classics in Summer series, which will take immersive melodies to historic sites such as the Mendoza Castle and the Monastery of Santa María de El Paular. And for the youngest visitors, Madrid brings an interactive experience with 1,2,3... Performa!, which will take them to the historical avant-garde of the 20th century.
There will also be open-air cinema sessions, exhibitions, dramatised visits, storytelling and workshops in museums and cultural centres such as the Pilar Miró, the Paco Rabal and the Royal Coliseum of Carlos III. The San Lorenzo Festival will also transform the stages of the Teatro Auditorio and La Antigua Mina de Zarzalejo with 13 dance, opera and flamenco shows.
On the other hand, the 40th edition of the Veranos de la Villa Festival is being held this year in Madrid, with an endless number of activities that put soundtrack and culture to every night of this summer through cinema, classical and flamenco dance, circus, poetry, theater and many other exciting proposals. In addition, in this edition Japan is the guest country, as an example of tradition and innovation.
