Tourism in Madrid
This summer, Madrid hosts the most representative music festivals on the national and international scene.
Theatre, music, dance and cinema come together in Madrid to celebrate a summer full of the best artistic proposals. Last June saw the start of the 8th edition of the Botanical Nights Festival (from 4 June to 31 July) to experience music in an oasis in the heart of Madrid, with international artists such as Vance Joy, The Cult and Take That, and national artists such as Julieta Venegas, María José Llergo and Los amigos invisibles.
Another iconic and internationally recognised festival event is Mad Cool (from 10 to 13 July), which this year introduces a fourth day of the festival with a programme featuring more than sixty guest artists such as Dua Lipa, Måneskin, The Killers, Bring Me The Horizon and Avril Lavigne. On the other hand, for opera lovers, the Region of Madrid welcomes the 1st edition of the Chamber Opera Festival (from 12 to 17 July), a format with six productions entitled Ópera a quemarropa, whose purpose is to bring this genre to a wider audience.
In August, the Kalorama International Festival comes to Madrid for the first time, from the 29th to the 31st, to conquer lovers of pop, rock, jazz and electronic music with stars such as LCD Soundsystem, Raye, Massive Attack and Sam Smith. But if you prefer an event that offers dance, opera and flamenco, the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Festival (from 1 to 31 August) is for you, where you can enjoy concerts commemorating Beethoven's Ninth Symphony or El amor brujo, among others.
The closing of the summer brings big names with the CocaCola Music Experience, on 13 and 14 September, where talents such as Rauw Alejandro, Myke Towers and Manuel Turizo will rock the atmosphere. Another option is SuaveFest (14 September), a festival organised by influencer María Pombo, where electro-latin music and reggaeton are the stars alongside confirmed hits such as Juan Magán.
Other important dates for this summer are: Festival Río Babel (4 to 6 July), BBF Festival Madrid (14 July) and Reggaeton Beach Festival (20 and 21 July).
