Madrid Book Fair

The Madrid Book Fair is celebrating its 83rd edition in the popular Retiro Park until the 16th of June.

This year's fair features more than 500 exhibitors and 350 stands from large and small publishers, independent bookshops and distributors. The variety of literary genres and authors present ensures that there is something for everyone, from contemporary fiction to classics, including children's and young people's literature, poetry, essays and science fiction.

As well as selling books, the iconic Madrid Book Fair offers an extensive programme of activities, from book launches to panel discussions, designed to encourage dialogue between readers and writers and provide a platform for debate on current literary and social issues.

Among the prominent authors attending this year's event are national and international names such as Javier Cercas, Elvira Lindo, Rosa Montero, Paul Auster and Donna Leon. Visitors will be able to meet their favourite writers, get signatures and attend talks where they can hear first-hand about the authors' experiences and creative processes.

There is also a space for the youngest, with activities designed to encourage reading from an early age. Storytelling, writing workshops and meetings with children's and young people's authors are just some of the initiatives aimed at attracting young readers and their families.

This year's edition promises to be a resounding success, continuing the tradition of being one of the most eagerly awaited cultural events in Madrid. With an emblematic setting such as El Retiro Park and a rich and varied programme, the Madrid Book Fair continues to consolidate its position as an essential event for all book lovers.
