Tourism in Madrid
Enjoy six different routes through 56 art galleries in the region with the Guide published by Arte Madrid in collaboration with the Region of Madrid.
Madrid's art galleries make up an important cultural space, with an average of four exhibitions per year and which open their doors free of charge. The publication of this guide by the Association of Art Galleries of Madrid - Arte Madrid- with the collaboration of the Region of Madrid, is an instrument to support the work of art galleries, which act as catalysts for contemporary art, as well as a useful aid for those interested in finding out about the most innovative cultural offerings in our region.
The guide lists 10 galleries in Centro, including Blanca Berlín, Twin Gallery, Elba Benítez and Espacio Valverde. Salesas has another ten, such as Max Estrella, Yusto Gines and Juana de Aizpuru. Those of Helga de Alvear, Rosa Santos and Marta Cervera are in Lavapiés, which has eleven.
Letras is home to a total of seven, such as Blanca Soto Arte and José de la Mano; Salamanca has six (We Collect and Fernando Pradilla, among others), and Chamberí has eight, such as Elvira González, Cayón and Daniel Cuevas. Another three are located in the district of Carabanchel: Benveniste Contemporary, Sabrina Amrani and Veta by Fer Francés, while Adora Calvo is in Las Rozas de Madrid.
In addition to the essential work they carry out, Madrid also has important cultural spaces such as the Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M) in Móstoles, which houses the collections of the contemporary art of Madrid and the Arco Foundation. It also highlights the Sala Alcalá 31, in the capital, free and open access.
On the other hand, the Sala de Arte Joven, also in Madrid, is a reference space for contemporary artistic creation that has established itself as a platform for creation, reflection and debate on emerging art. Finally, the Sala Canal de Isabel II is characterised by its work to promote the areas of photography and image.
