Discover the many exciting plans and activities that await you this Christmas in the Region of Madrid. Here are some of them, but there are many more!
On November 23rd, Christmas will be officially inaugurated in the capital with the switch-on of the Christmas lights, which will take place at 19:00 in Puerta del Sol.
If we move away from the capital, we will find the Parque Temático Navidalia in Getafe, which will be open from November 18, 2023 to January 7, 2024. Santa's house, the ice rink and the sledding hill are just some of the more than 90 attractions that the park has to offer.
Moving on to Torrejón de Ardoz, considered the first European capital of Christmas, we will find Parque Mágicas Navidades. This destination, a reference point for the whole family during this time of the year, stands out for being the only park with two Ferris wheels and for offering a wide variety of activities, such as the largest nativity scene in Spain, the 2nd edition of the Ice Festival, the only ice rink on a lake, the Asian Lantern Festival with more than 1 kilometer of lights, and many more surprises.
In Madrid, the Christmas season is not only marked by the Christmas lights and the magic of its parks, but also by the deep-rooted tradition of visiting nativity scenes.
Declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, the Monumental Nativity Scene of San Lorenzo de El Escorial becomes a must-see, offering the opportunity to admire its life-size handcrafted figures from the beginning of December.
Another very interesting option to visit on December 16 and 17 is the XXXIII edition of the Living Nativity Scene of Buitrago del Lozoya, with an extension of 1,300 meters distributed throughout the old part of the municipality, including the coracha, the church and the walls.
Another nativity scene with great tradition, celebrated on December 16th, is the Living Nativity scene of Colmenar de Oreja, one of the oldest in the Region of Madrid, which immerses you in the Christmas atmosphere and takes you back in time.
But that is not all, the Region of Madrid is full of nativity scenes with a long tradition that are well worth a visit: The Living Nativity of the Castillo de los Mendoza in Manzanares el Real, the Living Nativity of the Chapinería, the Living Nativity of Las Cuevas de El Charcón, the Living Nativity of Parla, the Living Nativity of Serranillos del Valle and the Living Nativity of Villarejo de Salvanés, among many others.
