Until November 19, Aranjuez will host the XXX Festival de Música Antigua Aranjuez 2023, a festival with 30 years of history.
Aranjuez, a city declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001, is the setting for this festival, which was born in 1994 as a collaboration between the Region of Madrid, the Aranjuez City Council and the Ministry of Culture, with the intention of recovering the musical splendor of the royal site, a place where Philip II and later the Bourbon kings developed an exceptional musical life.
The Palace Chapel, with its vaulted ceiling by Francisco Bayeu and paintings by Lucas Jordán and Mariano Salvador Maella, the Theatre Hall, with its unfinished frescoes by Mengs, and the Patio de los Caballos, where open-air concerts are held, have become regular venues for the Festival.
Another important aspect of the Festival's identity are the Musical Walks through the Gardens of Aranjuez, which simulate the walks that the royal family used to take.
During this date with music you can listen to works such as Jazz about Bach by Ariel Brínguez Quintet, El violín de Farinelli by Jorge Jiménez & Tercia Realidad, El Arte de la Fuga by Kenneth Weiss, and Bach & Bach by Antonio Serrano / Daniel Oyarzabal / Pablo M. Caminero.
