Aranjuez celebrates from September 6 to 10 its Motín Festivities where the events that took place in 1808 with the fall of Godoy and the abdication of King Carlos IV are commemorated.
Declared of National Tourist Interest in 1990 and of International Tourist Interest in 2014, the Mutiny Festivities represent scenes of the mutiny, in charge of the local residents, and based on texts from the National Episodes of Benito Pérez Galdós.
The assault and burning of the House of Godoy on September 9 in the Plaza de Parejas; the staging in the street of Goya's paintings related to witchcraft, covens, etc.; the Corrida Goyesca; cultural and sporting events, brass bands, parades, musical performances and open-air dances complete the festival that will officially begin on September 7 after the opening speech.
