38th Madrid en Danza Festival

The most outstanding choreographic festival in Spain, Madrid en Danza, displays its commitment to the contemporary artistic scene from May 13 to June 11.

The 38th edition of the Madrid en Danza Festival, to be held in the capital and in seven municipalities of the region until June 11, will feature the presence of 20 companies from nine countries, offering 14 premieres of shows conceived from contemporary dance, acrobatics, Spanish, traditional, flamenco or hip hop, in a cross-generational bet with historical figures, consolidated, emerging and new authors.

The great international bets come from the hand of the Israeli Hofesh Shechter, the Canadian Marie Chouinard and Rachid Ouramdane, director of Chaillot-Théâtre National de la Danse. There will also be some outstanding names of our dance scene, such as Olga Mesa or Francisco Hidalgo; as well as emerging talents like Chilean artist Florencia Oz, Premio, who opens Madrid en Danza on May 13 at the Teatro Jaime Salom in Parla with Antípodas.

In addition to the five Madrid stages of Teatros del Canal, the Paco Rabal Cultural Center, Sala Cuarta Pared, Teatro de La Abadía and Teatro Pradillo, there will be performances in Móstoles, Pinto, Parla, Coslada, Torrejón de Ardoz, San Lorenzo de El Escorial and La Cabrera. This presence of dance in the outskirts of Madrid is one of the festival's bets to develop new audiences beyond the capital with exclusive, contemporary, topical and quality content.
