Climbing plans in the Sierra Norte of Madrid

Our region is home to corners, mountain ranges and mountains where the possibilities for climbing multiply, read on!

Amateurs, interested and sporadic climbers will find in our Sierra Norte the possibility to do different types of climbing. For example, it is possible to climb on grip, on granite or on limestone walls. Here are some of the best places to do some of these types of climbing.

In Patones, Pontón de la Oliva is considered one of the best climbing centres in the region. Specialising in limestone rock climbing, here there is an abundance of overhanging drops with plenty of holes.

Another centre of reference is Valdemanco, which, like Pontón de la Oliva, has a school to professionalise this sport. Here, you can climb on vertical slabs and on belay, both in the classic modality and with a competitive and sporting focus.

Also on the list is La Cabrera, whose mountain range is home to numerous crags. Here you can climb the famous Pico de la Miel, recognisable from different points in the region, as well as the Agujas and Cancho Gordo. We recommend this point for an introduction to this sport.

One last recommendation: El Vellón. Here there is a limestone climbing school, close to the Pedrezuela reservoir. The location means that the weather and the season are decisive for the state of the walls, so it is advisable to consult the situation if you want to go there.

Enjoy outdoor sport across our geography!
