"70 years, 7 pieces, 7 filmmakers". 70th anniversary of the Filmoteca Española

The Filmoteca Española will be 70 years old on 23 February and, to prepare for its anniversary, it has designed a film exhibition, "70 years, 7 pieces, 7 filmmakers", not to be missed!

The exhibition can be visited until 30 April, marking on the calendar with special interest the 70th anniversary of this cinema, which for decades was known as the Filmoteca Nacional.

Located in the Palacio del Marqués de Perales, the exhibition begins a journey through the history of our cinema, with pieces, moments and scenes of great evocation for audiences of all ages. The hallmark of our cinema has remained in time, not immutable but recognisable, and this exhibition aims to bring out the special character of our seventh art.

The exhibition has counted with the participation of up to seven personalities of our national cinema: Ester Expósito, Jonás Trueba, Teresa Font, Santiago Segura, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Albert Serra and Eduardo Casanova. From different roles and functions, this cast.

Visitors will be able to see objects and material related to the profession, such as a 35mm film projector, original props from the legendary film "The Day of the Beast", by Álex de la Iglesia, or historical pieces by Basilio Martín Patino, to whom some of the founding moments of our cinema are attributed.

In the exhibition there are unique moments such as the possibility of viewing an 80-second tape of Alice Guy, a historical film that belongs to the archive of the institution and which is, de facto, the oldest piece to its credit. Reaching the present in the timeline, the exhibition is crowned with references to Pedro Almodóvar.
