HISTORIC GARDENS

Commissioned by Felipe II from the best master gardeners of the time, this set of gardens that extend around the back of the monastery carries evocative names. 

The gardens surrounding the monastery are the King's private garden, the Friars' garden and the Convalescents' garden, which was the resting place of the sick in the palace rooms.
