TAPAS ROUTES
Tapas" is probably one of the most internationally known words in the Spanish vocabulary. Madrid and its community are ideal to taste them, traditional or modern, visiting one or several places in another of the national traditions: "tapas". Here are several tapas areas.
Cheese, anchovies, olives, ham, callos madrileños, patatas bravas or calamares a la romana are some of the typical tapas that are usually served with beer, wine or vermouth. It is ideal for lunch between meals, or, tapa after tapa, we can end up having lunch or dinner.
The downtown area and its historic center will allow you to immerse yourself in tapas bars with more than 100 years of history. The area of Sol, the Plaza Mayor and its surrounding streets, the Madrid de los Austrias, are some of the areas where you can have a wine or a beer accompanied by a good tapa.
Not far away, we find the area of Huertas, where we can find opposite styles in the streets leading from the Plaza de Santa Ana. In this area we will find a mixture of traditional tapas with more creative and modern tapas.
The area of Alonso Martinez is also remarkable and finally, do not forget to go out for tapas in La Latina.
In recent years, the conversion of traditional markets into gourmet spaces has allowed the tasting of tapas of great quality and modernity in these traditional corners.
But tapas is not only restricted to the capital. Some of our most attractive corners such as Alcalá de Henares, San Lorenzo de El Esorial, Aranjuez or our Villas, have excellent tapas and celebrate tapas fairs throughout the year. Check our agenda and do not miss their tapas while you visit every corner of the region of Madrid.
