Located in the Middle Valley of the Lozoya, at the foot of the port of Somosierra, in the heart of the Guadarrama mountain range. It is the only Villa in the community that retains its full ancient walled enclosure. The Lozoya River, giving the town its name, surrounds the area everywhere but the southern part, making it a natural defense moat.
It is one of the most picturesque villages and assertive of the community of Madrid, its medieval square is the most emblematic monument in the town. It is distinguished by its houses clustered and settled in hills.
It is part of the region of Las Vegas and is located to the South East of the autonomous community. The history of Colmenar cannot be explained without the castle Castillo de Oreja, whose remains still survive today at a few kilometers from the town, in the province of Toledo. The urban area of the town was declared Property of Cultural Interest in on December 26, 2013.
This small village with its charm, surprises us every time we visit it with singular walks through its streets, which have preserved the architectural tradition of slate construction; a good gastronomy; and of course hiking and cycling routes.
Villa de Navalcarnero is located to the southwest of the community of Madrid, in the plain bounded by the Guadarrama and Alberche, rivers between hills and hillocks of gentle slope dominated by crops of dry land and vineyards that provide wines of great quality. In its day, this villa belonged to the sexmo de Segovia.
This municipality located at the foot of the Pedriza, in the Regional Park of the Upper Manzanares Basin, is declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
Situated in the basin of the Henares, its old town has its beginnings in the period that goes from the year 1709 to 1713 as a residence of the workers of a glass factory founded "ex novo" by Juan de Goyeneche and Gastón.
Famous town, among other things, for being the birthplace of Cardinal Jiménez de Cisneros and villa of residence of Maria Toribia, which later would be Santa María de la Cabeza, has a rich monumental heritage that led the municipality to be declared a National Historic and Artistic Heritage Site.
It is located in the high Valley of the Lozoya, in the Sierra de Guadarrama, a place of extraordinary beauty. The village preserved architecture typical of the Guadarraman mountain range and, inside of its municipal, is the Peñalara Natural Park and the Arboreto Giner de los Ríos. Some of its monuments include the monastery of El Paular, one of the most important in the North of the Madrid community.
This town, located in the Sierra Oeste, is a privileged enclave not only due for its history or the presence of two large reservoirs, San Juan and Picadas, but also because its historical heritage reflected in the Coracera Castle, and its impressive oenological offer that have turned the town into the capital of one of the most important areas of the Denomination of Origin Wines of Madrid.
This town has been included in this tourism initiative. Villarejo de Salvanés, located in Las Vegas region, was Encomienda Mayor de Castilla, belonging to the Military Order of Santiago, in the Middle Ages. The castle and the Casa de la Tercia, both of which have been declared Cultural Interest Goods, as well as the 'Torre del Homenaje' of the castle, a tower that is unique in its kind, stand out in its heritage.
