COLMENAR DEL ARROYO
The municipal landscape is characterized by the presence of water thanks to the Perales River and numerous streams, fountains and springs.
The main example of artistic heritage is the Parish Church of the Assumption of Our Lady. It was built with ashlar masonry -reinforced with buttresses in some points- and under Renaissance style between the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. It has a rectangular nave and a tower of three bodies with approximately 20 meters high. The church has a coffered ceiling, a baroque altarpiece, several carved wooden sculptures -believed to date from the 13th or 14th century- and the baptismal font from the 17th century. Among the religious buildings is also the belfry of the old Church of San Vicente, which is the only element that remains of this building erected between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
Other examples of Colmenar del Arroyo's heritage are the two Romanesque bridges that cross the stream, dating from the 15th century. The Puente de la Fragua is built with ashlar and masonry and has a single eye in the form of a semicircular arch. The Caño Bridge has two semicircular arches and was built with ashlar and stone. In the municipality there are also some remains of mills that are a reflection of the agricultural tradition of Colmenar del Arroyo.
