Weather in Madrid
The arrival of the good weather multiplies the options for outdoor plans. This spring we propose a route that covers two well-known spots in our region: Puerto de Navacerrada and the town of Manzanares El Real.
The route is 21 kilometres long and is therefore classified as medium difficulty. The proposed starting point for this walk is the Puerto de Navacerrada pass, the highest pass in the Sierra de Guadarrama. From its 1,860 metres you can see a large part of the Madrid and Segovia skyline. From there, the route reaches the Bola del Mundo, the most visible repeater station in the whole region.
The route then takes us to the source of the Manzanares, its source. From there the path continues until it reaches the emblematic Puente de los Manchegos, which marks the boundary of the upper area of La Pedriza, and continues along the river for a few more kilometres. Another point of interest that is reached halfway along the route is the Puente de los Franceses, at around kilometre 12 of the walk.
Canto Cochino is located around kilometre 16 of the route, a place that breaks with the usual silence of the previous stages of the trail, as it is usually more frequented. From this point, the final descent to Manzanares el Real begins through the El Tranco area.
Manzanares el Real is at around kilometre 21 of the walk. On arrival, you can pass through the church square and, of course, approach its emblematic castle, visible from several points in the surrounding area. Manzanares has a wide range of gastronomic offerings, if it is time to recharge your batteries, and also offers a direct connection to Madrid, if you wish to return to the capital. Bus line 724 connects the two municipalities.
Come and discover unequalled views and hidden places on the trails of our mountain range!
