Cocido Madrileño stew

There are still cold days in the region of Madrid and we propose the best plan to face them: the Ruta del Cocido Madrileño. A gastronomic event throughout the region that invites you to taste our most traditional dish in more than 35 participating restaurants, take note!

If you enjoy the taste of a good cocido madrileño, but also its tradition, its know-how, its presentation and its best versions, you can not miss this route. Until March 31, the participating restaurants have their best stoves to prepare this national dish.

From the center of the capital, with such popular candidates as the restaurants Malacatín, La Daniela or Los Galayos, to municipalities throughout the region, such as Chinchón, Guadarrama or Collado Villalba; wherever you live, or wherever you stay in Madrid, you will have a participating restaurant near you. Also participating in this edition of the route are the restaurants En Barro Cocido in Segovia, and Asador del Carmen, in Toledo.

It is estimated that some 90,000 portions of cocido will be served during these days. The organization, Qué Rico España, estimates that 600,000 kilos of noodles will be needed.

The cocido madrileño is usually served in three vuelcos or dishes: the soup, the chickpeas and vegetables, and the meats. In this edition you will discover proposals of all kinds, such as the Pancipelao restaurant, which serves a cocido in four vuelcos: the three traditional ones are preceded by a pringá croquette.

There are centenarians, for example the cocido of the Malacatín restaurant, which has been serving this traditional dish for 125 years. La Bola 150 Aniversario offers a cocido option for celiacs, and in general, most of the restaurants offer their dishes to take away, if desired.

The days give the opportunity to vote for the best cocido madrileño. To do this, just choose one of the participating restaurants, enjoy your stew and, if you liked it, save the ticket to validate the vote.

Participate and make this dish an experience!
