Two people skiing

Our region offers during the winter the opportunity to practice seasonal sports as popular as skiing, snowboarding or ice skating. Do you already know the best places to make the most of the cold and enjoy?

The geography of our region welcomes winter with a rich offer of leisure and sports. The mountains located in our region, as well as in its vicinity, provide the perfect setting to make winter a sporting challenge.

Valdesquí is the popular Madrid ski resort located in the municipality of Rascafría. It has a skiable surface of 220 hectares and, in addition, it is an ideal resort for beginners in winter sports. It offers up to 27 runs with a moderate difficulty profile, without extremely difficult slopes, making it the ideal place to enjoy a pleasant sports day with family or friends.

Equally popular is the Puerto de Navacerrada resort, in the municipality of Cercedilla. For the time being, the Telégrafo and Escaparate ski slopes have been opened, while El Bosque will remain closed until further notice.

Both Valdesquí and Navacerrada allow skiing in its different modalities, as well as snowboarding. They also offer snowshoeing courses and organize group excursions. In addition, there are more ski areas in the regions bordering the region of Madrid, such as La Pinilla, in the Segovia town of Riaza, or La Covatilla, further away, in the Sierra de Béjar, in Salamanca.

SnoZone, in Xanadu, is the urban option for ski lovers. It offers the best conditions for skiing or snowboarding all year round thanks to its large indoor snow slope. Similar to this option is the ice rink at the Madrid Dreams Shopping Center - Palacio de Hielo, in Canillas, where you can practice ice skating on its Olympic rink all year round.

But winter brings many more opportunities for ice sports enthusiasts. Our region sets up dozens of ice skating rinks in urban environments for Christmas. Skate with friends or family or even learn to skate on one of these many rinks.

Winter is beginning, but sports do not stop!
