The courtyard of the Real Casa de Correos, in the central Puerta del Sol, already houses the traditional Nativity Scene. An installation with years of tradition formed by more than 160 figures that make up the well-known biblical scenes and can be visited until January 9.
A platform of 215 square meters presents the representation of up to four scenes so typical of these dates: the Nativity, the Adoration, the Annunciation and the Flight into Egypt. The Nativity Scene has been installed on three islands surrounded by water that allow to differentiate the scenes, so that visitors go around the installation in a circular way.
The installation has been commissioned by the Asociación de Belenistas de Madrid and the figures of the Nativity Scene are by José Luis Mayo, Monserrat Ribes, Daniel Alcántara and the Escuela Murciana. In the central island there is an olive tree of more than two meters high symbolizing the "tree of life", next to the Nativity scene. The other islands contain other scenes such as the city of Jerusalem, the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, the Visitation to St. Elizabeth or the Flight of the Holy Family to Egypt.
The Nativity Scene thus returns to be installed inside the building of the regional government, the place where it was exhibited in its last edition in 2019 and which was attended by more than 120,000 visitors.
The installation can be visited until next January 9, from 10:00 to 22:00h. On December 3 the schedule will be from 12:30 to 22:00h, on December 24, 31 and January 5, from 10:00 to 18:00h. On December 25 and January 1 will be closed.
