The emblematic 21-kilometer half marathon will take the recreational and competitive atmosphere through areas as significant as the Plaza de Castilla, Serrano street, Puerta de Alcalá or Atocha station. It will also run along part of the Paseo del Prado and the Buen Retiro, an area recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This year, the marathon will bear the IAAF Silver Label and will remain in the "Road Race Label" category of the international federation World Athletics. For this edition, the route has been softened to reduce the gradient and allow participants to improve their times. Kipkemoi Kiprono, from Kenya, along with Tigist Teshome Ayanu, from Ethiopia, were the winners of the last edition, held in 2019.
The race starts at Paseo de La Castellana, directs the march towards Plaza de Castilla and, from there, heads back south, crossing Tetuán, Cuatro Caminos and Chamberí. From there, it heads back towards the Salamanca neighborhood and, finally, runs along the Retiro Park until it ends at Paseo de Recoletos.
Parallel to this event, the ProFuturo race will also be held, a solidarity proposal, with a 5 kilometer route, with a lower difficulty, ideal for beginners in this type of events or simply to enjoy an urban walk. This race will raise funds for the ProFuturo project, dedicated to reducing the educational gap in the world.
The half marathon will be broadcast live on channel #0 of the Movistar+ platform.
Come along and participate!
