Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid hosts in its Sala Recoletos the exhibition "Judith Joy Ross", the largest retrospective to date of the American photographer Judith Ross. It can be visited until January 9, 2022, don't miss it!
You can discover up to 200 photographs of this master of portrait photography, as well as a variety of documentary material that supports and explains the exhibition. The exhibition traces the photographer's biography and shows her works from each period through nine chronologically ordered sections.
Ross focuses on portrait photography from 1979 onwards. With it she discovers a new way of responding to different existential questions: how to deal with sadness, injustice or war; how we form our personal identity, or how we give meaning to our lives.
The exhibition has been commissioned by Joshua Chang and among the subject matter of the photographs you will find many different references, for example to the Vietnam War, to the American congressmen after the Irangate scandal, or geographical references to places dear to the artist, such as Pennsylvania and the state of Easton, the place where she was born and where she still lives.
Don't miss this artist's transcendental photography in the largest exhibition ever assembled!
