The Night of the Books 2021 poster

On October 1, the region of Madrid celebrates a new edition of "La Noche de los libros", the exciting literary evening in which many institutions, bookstores, libraries and cultural centers organize meetings with writers and publishers to bring literature to all audiences. Over 400 activities set throughout 81 towns of the region.

The sixteenth edition of the initiative, this year under the slogan "Madrid at the forefront", organizes dialogues with your favorite writers, colloquiums, collective readings and a multitude of participatory activities such as workshops, online contests or literary tours. You can participate in two urban routes, one through Madrid region's art galleries, and another one honouring the 40s and 50s great female writers.

The book, as the protagonist, will bring together renowned writers and authors such as Antonio Muñoz Molina, Ana Rossetti, Lorenzo Silva, Berta García Faet and Marta Sanz to develop hundreds of activities.

This edition is inspired by the avant-garde and cutting-edge atmosphere of Madrid's literature in the 1920s, a decade in which Madrid became an artistic laboratory thanks to the creativity of authors such as Luis Buñuel, Rosa Chacel and Jorge Luis Borges.

The writer Irene Vallejo and the singer Luz Casal are waiting for you at the Real Casa de Correos in Madrid. Félix de Azúa and Jon Juaristi at the National Library. Or you can also go to the Círculo de Bellas Artes for a meeting with writers Elvira Lindo, Ana Rossetti and Rosario Villajos. Find poets Berta García Faet, Ángela Segovia and Constantino Molino in plaza Conde Barajas, along with musicians Soleá Morete and Fernando Vacas.

Young people can also enjoy this literary celebration with initiatives such as the creation of a collaborative story. At the Real Casa de Postas de Madrid, the educational project Primigenius will be in charge of compiling the fragments of this children's story.

An endless number of activities that you can not miss, participate in the most lively literature in the Night of the Books!
