On the evening of September 18, Madrid town of Alcalá de Henares dresses up to celebrate the Heritage Night 2021, an event organized by the group of Heritage Cities that aims to promote and fill with history and art the cities declared World Heritage by UNESCO in our country
The project aims to coordinate cultural and artistic events in the fifteen Spanish cities awarded by UNESCO with this distinction: Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza / Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo, Úbeda and Madrid's Alcala de Henares.
Thus, Alcalá de Henares, declared World Heritage City by UNESCO in 1998, will showcase its wealth of monuments with a special program, including the opening of museums with special opening hours, guided tours or dance performances.
The Cervantes Birthplace Museum will open its doors with extended opening hours from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The dramatized route "Women of Alcalá", the tour of the city guided by women present in the life of Miguel de Cervantes will be held in the afternoon in two sessions at 18:00 and 19:30 h. Tickets can be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis at the museum from 5:30 p.m. on the same day.
The Tourist Offices of the Oidor Chapel and the Casa de la Entrevista will also open their doors in an extraordinary way until 00:00 h. Other places with special opening hours are the Tower of Santa María, the Alcalá Medieval Interpretation Center, the Regional Archaeological Museum, the Complutum and the House of Hippolytus, all of them open until 00:00 h.
In parallel, a series of guided tours are planned that you can not miss. From 21:00 to 23:00 h you can go on a guided tour of the Town Hall, for groups of 20 people, which includes a visit to the Plenary Hall and the Government Commission Room. Another very interesting proposal is "Legends and Traditions of Alcalá", which with free assistance will organize guided tours from the Tourist Office of the Oidor Chapel.
At 21:00 and 22:00h guided tours will be organized to the Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso. If you wish to attend you must register in advance at the Shop of the University of Alcalá. Also, the Parador de Turismo has arranged three guided tours throughout the morning so you can get to know its monumental facilities: at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 12:30 pm.
At 7:00 pm, in the Corral de Comedias will be performed "Fuga", a play by Lamperfecta and José Pablo Polo, who reflect on pop culture and the relationship between their songs and dances, their movements, and who will take the viewer to the usual common places of the pop world.
