The beach of Virgen de la Nueva by San Juan lake

Madrid does have a beach and today we have the perfect plan to recommend. Summers in Madrid can be boiling hot and to help make them more bearable, the ideal thing is to constantly hydrate, apply tanning cream and, why not, take a dip!

Although the Community of Madrid maintains in 2021 the ban on bathing in reservoirs, lakes, rivers and pools of fresh untreated backwater due to the pandemic situation, the region has allowed 4 officially registered bathing areas that are considered safe. This holiday season and up to next September 10, visit San Juan lake, where the blue flag stands on the beach of Virgen de la Nueva and you can take a dip in its waters while you are surrounded by a stunning natural landscape.

This is the only beach authorized in the region for bathing and the only reservoir in the Community where you can engage in motorized water activities such as water skiing. A perfect plan to spend the day with friends or family.

Besides taking a dip, you can enjoy the facilities available at the site and sign up for an adventure practicing canoeing and kayaking, surfing or paddle surfing, flyboarding, wakeboarding and other water sports, both for beginners and advanced level.

Or you can have fun participating in different outdoor leisure, adventure and multi-adventure activities that San Martín de Valdeiglesias offers, such as climbing and abseiling, caving, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, paintball, horseback riding, archery, etc.

Take the chance during these heat months and enjoy the water and nature and come to the San Juan lake, you will not regret it!
