The flamenco ballet par excellence ''Carmen'' arrives at the Teatro Capitol of Gran Vía until September 19. An explosion of folklore, passion and lust that will be composed by 20 artists, both dancers and soloists, as well as live musicians. Francisco Guerrero is the choreographer of this masterpiece.
Carmen will be the protagonist of this work, a passionate gypsy woman in the Seville of 1830. The story is about how Carmen seduces Corporal Don José, a soldier. She falls in love and as a consequence leaves her former love and joins a group of smugglers.
Some of the scenes that we can enjoy in the first act will be in the tobacco factory, the place where the famous cigarette makers who were in charge of manufacturing the tobacco that was supplied to Madrid are located. The seguiriya paso a dos, between Carmen and Don José, is a flamenco palo that reflects the depths of human feeling.
Another of the protagonist locations are the tavern, where we find sevillanas, boleras and guajiras. Meeting place of the Spanish people, it is the ideal place to show the culture of our country in its maximum splendor.
Reflection of the smugglers will be the mountain that will try to portray in the play, where with alegrías and tangos they commit misdeeds and rebel against the imposed.
Tragedy and love will be the protagonists of this first act full of classical dance, flamenco art and lots of Spanish folklore. Until September 19 at the Teatro Capitol Gran Vía-Madrid you can enjoy this play full of emotions.
