Astrotourism: walks under the stars

Do you want to go from Madrid to the sky? We have the perfect plan to bring you closer: astrotourism routes or astronomical tourism in the mountains. A new way to travel and enjoy tourist destinations, contemplating the stars.

We recommend four walks under the stars of the Madrid sky. A perfect activity to do with your partner or with your friends, you can't miss it!

On May 22, come to the Dehesa de Los Molinos to enjoy an excursion under the stars where you will also have the opportunity to contemplate a planet and learn to identify the constellations visible at this time of year. The tour lasts 2.5 hours and starts at 21:00 at night.

If you want to learn about the solar system and the "wandering stars'' you will have to go to Valle de La Fuenfría (Cercedilla) on Saturday, May 28 at 19:30 in the evening where you can go on a night hiking route. This walk lasts approximately 3 hours and you will be accompanied by expert astronomy instructors with Starlight certification and guides accredited by the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

To contemplate the rising of the full moon and learn about the origin of our satellite, travel to Puerto de Navacerrada in Cercedilla where you can enjoy a walk under the starry sky that will culminate in the viewpoint of the Pradera de Siete Picos. The route starts at 20:30 in the evening and lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

Finally, in Hoyo de Manzanares, on June 30, you have another date with the stars in the new edition of "De Hoyo al cielo". The route takes place on the outskirts of the town and you will identify planets, celestial bodies and constellations. At the end, you can toast what you have learned with a delicious lemonade. This excursion is the second of seven that will take place throughout the summer.

If you want to learn about astronomy and contemplate the spectacular starry sky of Madrid you have no excuse, take warm clothes and your flashlight, and sign up for one of these plans. Go ahead and live the experience!
