Route through the birch grove of Canencia and La Chorrera de Mojonavalle

If you feel like a change of routine and breathe fresh air, we bring you this magnificent hiking route ideal for walking in spring and autumn where you can enjoy a pleasant walk.

A great opportunity both for those who want to get started in hiking, as for those who simply want to walk outdoors or go hiking discovering some of the most beautiful forests and corners of the mountains of Madrid.

It is located in the Puerto de Canencia at 1524 meters. It is one of the mountain passes through which you can access the Sierra Norte de Madrid.

It has a natural environment very populated with wild pines, although the number of species in the area is very extensive and amazing, among which you can find some as rare as the Douglas fir, and even some protected species such as holly and yew.

In addition, you will find melojos and wild pines with a particularly high altitude, nature at its purest!

The route runs along the impressive waterfall or Chorrera de Mojonavalle and the Abedular de Canencia, a unique forest full of birch trees. 7.6 km long in a circular route, very pleasant and easy to do, even with family and children, at any time of the year.

It is highly recommended to go to the viewpoint of Mojonavalle to have the best views and contemplate some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes. And follow, in the middle of nature for its great natural diversity and richness, the ecological path of Canencia, the traditional route.

Take advantage of spring to see nature at its greenest season!
