Velázquez has always been closely linked to the capital. His Meninas have walked the streets and his works have found a home in different museums. Now, a new proposal has landed in the center of Madrid to offer an immersive experience in art through technology, "Velázquez Tech Museum".
The new museum allows you to travel through eight rooms where you can touch, smell, feel, admire and, above all, live an authentic work of art that will not leave anyone indifferent. It links art and technology, with the aim of recovering the interest of those generations that may not know Las Meninas.
Dozens of projectors set the scene and illuminate the rooms, while a video mapping guides through the tour and the different reinterpretations of this masterpiece.
In turn, you can enjoy a host of activities, such as listening to baroque music with modern mixes; talk to the painter through a hologram; enter a four-dimensional painting and even create your own Meninas with cubes of inspiration.
The temporary museum also takes the opportunity to tell the history and evolution of the era, as well as to give visibility to the largest outdoor urban art exhibition "Meninas Madrid Gallery", which annually fills the city with dozens of statues reinterpreted from Las Meninas and inspired by Velázquez's painting.
Velázquez Tech Museum creates a unique and surprising world in which the whole family will enjoy art through their five senses, becoming the real protagonists.
The most innovative 360º sensory experience of Madrid's leisure offer that gives free rein to creativity, bringing the iconic work of Diego Velázquez, one of the most important painters of universal painting. A unique and unforgettable experience that can be enjoyed until September 30, 2021 thanks to the initiative of Ibercaja and Meninas Madrid Gallery.
