The Museum of Contemporary Art in Glass Alcorcón (MAVA) opens its doors to offer free guided tours. Located in the Castillo Grande de San José de Valderas, it dedicates its space to show the different works and styles of glass.
The spectacular castle, home of the museum, is the largest of the ancient castles of Valderas. The former residence-palace of the Marquises of Valderas is an architectural work of the early twentieth century Luis Sainz de los Terreros.
MAVA collaborates assiduously with universities, councils and educational centers. Thanks to its guided tours, MAVA offers visitors the opportunity to observe the 114 sculptures dedicated to different artistic styles of contemporary glass.
The organization will present the tour with the video "Welcome to MAVA", then enter into a journey through the last 20 years of glass by the hand of international and national artists.
Temporary and permanent exhibitions will be visited, as DNA Signature, the German author Klaus U.Hilsbecher; the collection of more 46 pieces of Bellini & Pezzoli; or Exodus, the Argentine Claudia Golzman.
After the visit, you can enjoy optional activities such as creative jewelry workshops, magic bottles or painting on glass, as well as finish with an electric pencil on a glass jar.
In turn, the museum also offers numerous free activities for adults and children to enjoy the art of glass. Temporary exhibitions, visits to workshops and stained glass, talks with professionals, courses, conferences and a real festival of glass are some of the proposals that will give prominence to this material, while surprising and leave you open-mouthed.
