This week we would like to invite you to travel to Villaviciosa de Odón to learn about its history, its heritage and the beauty of its surroundings thanks on the one hand to the classic guided tours, and on the other, the fun 'adventure guides', which are the ideal plan to enjoy with the family.
Villaviciosa de Odón is located next to the Guadarrama River. It is a Madrid town included in the Regional Park of the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River and its Environment, a protected area by the Region of Madrid. We are going there this week to get to know the area in depth through the different visits offered by the Town Hall. https://turismomadrid.es/es/descubre/madrid-área-metropolitana/7022-villaviciosa-de-odon.html
The first route invites us to discover the Castle and the Historical Centre. From Monday to Friday you have the opportunity to visit the different rooms of this unique fortress, owned by the Air Force, which houses the Historical Archives. After finishing, the participants will walk around the town discovering its most representative heritage, visiting buildings of special relevance such as the Manuel Godoy House-Palace or the Santiago Apóstol Church.
If you like to be in touch with nature, we recommend this second guided tour that will take you to know, also from Monday to Friday, one of the most emblematic natural environments of the area, the Forestal. It is a spectacular arboretum with more than 350 different tree species, including specially protected trees, which appear in the Catalogue of Unique Trees of the Region of Madrid.
But as we advanced you, if you prefer to explore the town at your own pace, we encourage you to participate in 'Historia y secretos de una Villa' (History and secrets of a town), an adventure guide in which you will have to guess a series of clues to find out about the monuments, their history and their legends. A proposal for all audiences that you will love!
Along the same lines as the previous activity, the Town Hall proposes that we take part in the environmental tourist route 'los árboles hablan' (the trees speak), in which the participants will have to guess the questions that they will find on the posters placed on 30 trees that follow a numerical order, to continue moving forward while learning about environmental curiosities.
In this link, you can download the application of Tourism of Villaviciosa de Odón, to know all the details of these visits, as well as other curiosities of the municipality, its gastronomy, and much more...
