From the 4th July to the 30th August, on Saturdays and Sundays, in the incomparable setting of the Manzanares El Real Castle, we have the opportunity to analyse a cycle of theatre performances for all audiences, in which history and environment merge. We will discover scenes from another era, dealing with situations that will not be unknown to us in our time.
The Renaissance meant the break with the rigid thinking of the Middle Ages and the humanistic and creative transformation of the values of the Greco-Latin culture and the contemplation of Nature. This atmosphere is reflected in the representations that take place in the theatrical cycle of the Castillo de Manzanares, in which the Mendoza, an outstanding family of the time, shows us their daily life, ambitions and aspirations.
The role of the woman acquires special relevance, Brianda de Mendoza, is relegated by reason of her sex, reveals herself against her father, since she tries to fulfil her aspirations by progressing to acquire the profession of architect. In the work, Don Iñigo, the maiden's father, represents the most traditional world, the past, while she, with her desires, draws the hope of the new time that is to come.
So get ready, will takes place on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 12pm and, with popular prices, all weekends in July and August. The 12pm pass is specially adapted for children. There is a maximum capacity limit of 16 people, following the recommendations of the COVID-19, in which the use of a mask is also obligatory, as well as the maintenance of safety measures of 1,5 metres.
Also, it is possible to visit the Castle.
