Los museos de la Comunidad de Madrid abren sus puertas

On May 26, the museums of the Region of Madrid opened their doors. With important safety and hygiene measures it is now possible to visit your favourite art galleries, thus resuming your cultural activity. In the coming days, they will announce their schedule, but now, we will advanced you the protocols to follow.

Over the past few days, we have been receiving very encouraging news about the recovery from the crisis we are suffering from the coronavirus pandemic. Everyday life is returning to normal, and with it, the opening, among other institutions, of the region's museums.

Last week the Lope de Vega House Museum, the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, the Picasso Museum - Eugenio Arias Collection, the CA2M Dos de Mayo Art Centre, the Regional Archaeological Museum and the Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Centre opened their doors, so if you feel like it, you can visit any of them over the next few days.

Of course, in order to access the installations, a series of measures will have to be complied, with the aim of guaranteeing the security of both users and employees. Thus, the masks will be of obligatory use, the capacity will be reduced to 33% initially, although it is expected to change depending on the phases of the de-escalation, and it will be necessary to respect the safety distance of 2 meters.

In addition, no physical materials such as tickets, brochures, catalogues, audio guides, touch screens or earphones will be provided; everything will be virtually through web links and QR codes.

The workshops, talks and other activities will be suspended for the time being, but each museum will offer its own virtual programme.

In an extraordinary way, and to increase the precautions for people over 60, the Region has established an exclusive day and time slot for visits. The appointment will be on Wednesdays from the opening of the museum until 2pm in the case of the CA2M, the Lope de Vega House Museum, the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, the Picasso Museum - Eugenio Arias Collection and the Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Centre, and on Thursdays at the Regional Archaeological Museum of Alcalá́ de Henares.
