After the standstill generated by the COVID-19 crisis, we are gradually returning to normal. From here, we want to contribute to you to take it better and for it we invite you to see the region with other eyes. During the next weeks, you will discover many plans, so we encourage you to stay connected to our website, but below you will find a taste of what you can find...
The long-awaited 'new normality' is finally arriving, and with the aim of making known and inviting people to visit, as far as the phases make it possible, the region's tourist destinations and resources, this tourist initiative arrives under the slogan 'Together we are a better Madrid'.
History, culture and nature come together to give you the best of the Madrid region. So, we invite you to visit the three sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO (the University and Historic Centre of Alcalá́ de Henares; the Cultural Landscape of Aranjuez; and the Monastery and Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial); or the eleven Madrid Villas.
Although it is true that sometimes the best way to get to know a place is through its traditions, that is why we offer you two interesting guides, who will take you to discover the architecture, the crafts and even the gastronomy and the festivals: 'Living Tradition Madrid', and 'Castles and Fortresses'.
If you prefer outdoor activities, you are in the right place as you can visit such picturesque places as El Hayedo de Montejo, the first natural area in the region recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Sierra del Rincón and Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Biosphere Reserves, or the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, where a tourism intelligence project is being implemented to improve the quality and safety of visitors' experiences in this natural environment of the region.
The Sierra Norte and the Sierra Oeste also wait you with open arms, as there you can do different activities that will make your day unforgettable. Cycling is your thing? Then you will have a great time with 'CiclaMadrid' and the 'Vías Verdes' thanks to their different routes.
To round off the experience, as if it were a film, we also give you the option of visiting the region through the locations of films recorded during the second half of the 20th century with 'Territorio Far West', or even from home with 'CineTurismo in the Region of Madrid'.
But this is just a brief sample, horseback riding, see the stars, canoeing, travel in historical trains, enjoying wine tourism and much more, is what you will find, because... 'Together we are a better Madrid'.
