The Region of Madrid offers reading lovers more than 10,000 books and 4,000 films through the eBiblio Madrid service, free of charge, to make quarantine more bearable. Below we tell you how to enjoy this cultural initiative.
For those who are not familiar with the eBiblio Madrid service, this is a system for lending electronic books over the Internet, which the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport makes available to reading lovers, in collaboration with the Region of Madrid.
In order to use this service, it is necessary to have a library card from one of the public libraries or 'bibliobuses' (mobile lending library) in the region, although now, as a novelty, it is possible to gain free access temporarily during the period of validity of the alarm status, by filling out the registration form on the Portal del Lector, which can be completed in any of the available libraries, when the centres reopen their doors.
After registering and having a password as a user, you will have access to the catalogue to be able to choose among the existing titles to be read in different devices such as smartphones, computers, tablets or e-book readers compatible with DRM (Digital Rights Management) of Adobe Digital Editions.
You can select up to a maximum of three loans, which you can have for 21 days, 24 hours for magazines and 2 hours for newspapers. If the title you are looking for is not available, you can request a reservation to read it when will be free.
But there is even more, since eBiblio Madrid has more than 4,000 titles, including films and audio-visuals, which you can enjoy for seven days.
