Already consolidated as one of the best summer events in Spain to enjoy classical music, comes a new edition of the festival 'Classics in Summer'. Until 28 July, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy chamber music in some of the most emblematic places in the region.
Since it began its journey back in 1987, this cultural initiative has evolved with the passage of time, having its maximum transformation during the last four years, as it has gone from 39 municipalities and 91 concerts in 2016 to 71 municipalities and 148 concerts in 2019.
From the 5th to the 28th of July we will be able to enjoy the best classical music programme thanks to the XXXII edition of 'Clásicos en Verano’, which with the aim of reinforcing the Rural Revitalisation Strategy of the Region of Madrid, this year 31 municipalities with less than 2,500 inhabitants are taking part.
With an intense programme that aims to captivate new audiences, during the weekends of July we will be able to enjoy the best classical music, by the hand of established artists together with emerging talents, in heritage sites throughout the region.
Thus, we will be able to attend the commemoration of the fourth centenary of the birth of the singer and composer Barbara Strozzi, the bicentenary of the birth of the pianist and composer Clara Schumann and the centenary of the arrival of Federico García Lorca in Madrid to settle in the Residencia de Estudiantes (Student Residence).
There will also be the cycle of early music that takes place in the Castle of Mendoza in Manzanares El Real, as well as the two concerts of the Orchestra of the Region of Madrid (ORCAM), one of them in the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo in El Escorial and the other in the Royal Monastery of Santa María in El Paular.
