Buitrago del Lozoya

Buitrago rises above the Central Valley of Lozoya over a bluff surrounded by the river which creates a natural barrier for a town situated at the foot of the Port of Somosierra.

Buitrago and other villages are a part of the Villas of Madrid programme. Discover them and enjoy the promotions and discounts offered for the different attractions. What are you waiting for?

This villa was declared a Historic/Artistic Grouping and Spanish Cultural Heritage Site in 1993 because of its spectacular walled grounds of Arabic origin which are the most well-conserved in the Autonomous Region of Madrid. With an 800 metre perimeter, three entrances and many areas supplied with water by the Lozoya River, it was witness to the co-existence of Muslim, Christian and Jewish cultures. Here you can take in one of the best views anywhere of the Sierra Norte.
