Nestled in the Sierra Norte, in its surroundings you can enjoy numerous outdoor activities such as hiking or biking or horseback riding, fishing, canoeing or bathing in a natural pool.
Located 75 km from the capital, in the Sierra Norte, Buitrago del Lozoya enjoys a beautiful natural environment in which you can find four different types of ecosystems depending on the type of vegetation: holm oak, melojar, pine forest or undergrowth.
The reservoirs near Buitrago, Riosequillo and Puentes Viejas, are artificial floods of the original basin of the Lozoya River created to supply water to the Community of Madrid. In its waters there is a population of native fish such as the common trout, the barbel or the bogue, while others have been introduced.
Nearby are the natural pools recreational area of Riosequillo, ideal place to spend with the family and take a dip to cool you in the summer of Madrid. In the surroundings there are also numerous active tourism companies, where you can take canoeing tours, practice and learn paragliding.
