Friday

05.00-07.00 p.m. The Oriente Square (Plaza de Oriente) is your starting point in this walk. Among statues and gardens you will find out the Royal Theatre (Teatro Real) and opposite to this place, we will go ahead until you get the Royal Palace.

In front of you it rises a superb building, that on its right has the Sabatini Gardens and on its left, the Almudena’s Cathedral, where you can visit the church and the crypt. From here, you can walk along the Bailén Street and soon we will get Mayor Street.

07:00- 09.00 p.m. If you go along this street, you will find the Villa Square (Plaza de la Villa) and after this place, the Saint Miguel Market (Mercado de San Miguel): do you feel like a cool appetizer? Perhaps some oysters with a glass of cava (champagne)… or maybe you prefer something more traditional such as a tapa with cured Iberian ham (jamón ibérico) and a fresh vermouth. When we go out the market we find the Mayor Square (Plaza Mayor) where the visitors and the madrileños get mixed up and enjoy the beauty of the balconies and the arcades around the square.

The Puerta del Sol is your next stop. This is a square full of secrets that you will have to discover. From here, you continue walking to the Chamber of Deputies (Congreso de los Diputados) where you will see two wonderful lions watching over the entrance.

09:00 p.m- 00:00 a.m. Through the Prado Street you will get the Santa Ana Square (Plaza de Santa Ana). Have some ‘tapas’ sitting in a terrace and then walk towards Huertas Street, one of the nightlife centre in the city. Dozens of bars and pubs will open their doors for you until the wee ours in the morning.

Saturday

09:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. You start your Saturday in the Art Walk (Paseo del Arte), that it houses three of the most famous and important art galleries in the world. The Prado Museum, the Thyssen Museumand the Reina Sofía Museum open their doors for you to travel around the world of art. Choose which one you prefer to visit or perhaps you do dare with all of them!!

12:00-02:00 p.m. After visiting one of these museums you will walk to the Cibeles Square where you can admire the most famous godness in Madrid: Cibeles Fountain (Fuente de Cibeles). Take some photos of this popular symbol of Madrid. Few meters from this square you find another square, the Independencia one, in which is the Puerta de Alcalá, another popular image of our capital. Opposite this monument is the Retiro Park, another mandatory visit in Madrid. Walk through this park or rent a boat in the wonderful lake to enjoy this ‘green lung’ in the middle of Madrid.

02:00-03:00 p.m. It’s lunch time. Why don’t you try tasting some rations in the Letras neighbourhood (Literary neighbourhood), where there are a lot of charming and traditional taverns, such as La Dolores or Los Gatos.

03:00-05:00 p.m. You can take Madrid Vision Bus and move to the north of the capital. We will go along the Paseo de la Castellana until we get the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. You can do a tour inside the ‘Real Madrid house’ and discover the different cups that they have won.

05:00-07:00 p.m. It’s time for some shopping!! You can go to the downtown to buy some coloured fans and souvenirs, but first, have a look to the so-called “Golden Mile” (Milla de Oro) in Salamanca’s neighbourhood and give yourself a whim or perhaps you prefer Spanish design with a touch of modernity: then, don’t miss Malasaña or Triball. Do you want to know a mall in Madrid? Then, go to Principe Pío Mall, inside and old railway station and located near the Royal Palace. Here you will find everything you want and all you need!.

07:00-08:00 p.m. After shopping, go to España Square (Plaza de España) and from here get the Debod Temple (Templo de Debod), an Egyptian construction located in a park with wonderful sights of the Madrid’s skyline and the Casa de Campo Park.

08:00 p.m.-00:00 a.m. Come back to the to enjoy with a musical play in the ‘Madrilenian Broadway’. After the spectacle it’s time to enjoy with a dinner. The centre offers you endless choices: Casa Labra, Botín, Lhardy…. and after that, have a drink and relax in Glass Bar, in Hotel Urban, one of the most exclusive places in Madrid. You deserve it after this whole day!!

Sunday

08:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. After a chocolate con churros’ breakfast (hot chocolate and strips of fried dough) at San Ginés, on Sunday morning is compulsory to visit the Rastro. We recommend you to arrive the Rastro early in the morning (around 09:00 a.m.) and get lost in its streets. In this traditional street market you can find nearly anything you need. Second hand products, new ones, clothes, furniture, pets… and so on. This market will surprise you!!.

12:00-01:00 p.m. You are in La Latina neighbourhood: the most popular place in Madrid to taste some tapas!, Don’t miss it! Get around here and try it! You can have a break in Las Vistillas Gardens.Taste some traditional portions in its terraces, while you enjoy of a wonderful sight of Madrid.

01:00- 09:00 p.m. It’s time to go out of the capital. Aranjuez is the name of one of the most beautiful towns in the region. The city has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO and has one of the most interesting Royal Palaces in the Community of Madrid. Inside the Palace you will admire the Porcelain Cabinet or the Mirrors Room. You must spend some hours walking through the gardens, surrounded by the Tajo River, and decorated with fountains from the 16th and 17th centuries. After that, get inside the city centre and discover that Aranjuez has a rich and tasting gastronomy: fresh asparagus, sweet strawberries and a wide variety of wines. You can also try a delicious roast dish in one of its old style restaurants (mesones).
