Turismo Madrid. Easter Week 2018

The Easter Week, is a great time linked to the religious sphere in which the Region of Madrid presents an intense agenda with different events such as the living passions, the processions, the concerts and the 'tamborradas'. From here we present the new guide, with which you will be able to follow closely all the events and plan yourself to discover at the same time the beautiful corners that our region has to offer.

Holy Week is celebrated in a very particular way in each municipality. The processions, the passions, the representations, the concerts, the offices, the liturgical acts or the Stations of the Cross, give a good account of the tradition and the fervor with which they live and feel these dates.

One more year, we bring you the official program of the Holy Week in the Region of Madrid, which divided into five large blocks, detail us the activities that will take place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, in the different municipalities of the region.

The towns of Carabaña, Chinchón, Morata de Tajuña and Villarejo de Salvanés, transform their historical centre into the old Jerusalem to represent the Passion of Christ through their Festivities of Tourist Interest.

For its part, in the World Heritage Cities of Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez and San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and in the Villas Buitrago del Lozoya, Chinchón, Colmenar de Oreja, Navalcarnero and Villarejo de Salvanés, its processions with interesting imagery exhibitions, choral music concerts or solemn Stations of the Cross stand out.

The capital also vibrates at this time of year thanks to the processions and concerts of sacred music that take place in different churches, as is the case in the rest of the municipalities in the region, and you will find in our guide with the timetables and dates so you can plan your visit while you are sightseeing.

Of course, at this time of the year, gastronomy is another of the protagonists. Although the typical stew of vigil is typical, or the cod in different versions, the sweets fill the shop windows of the pastry shops of the region offering the typical 'torrijas', the 'pestiños', the Easter eggs, the 'hornazo' and even the 'pasioncitos'.

Discover the marvellous corners of our region, let yourself be carried away by the popular fervor and vibrate with the Madrid Holy Week that will reveal you an interesting heritage.
