With the aim of taking the gastronomy of Alcalá to the highest level, the month of April has begun with a new edition of the Alcalá Gastronomic Contest, which in its sixth edition surprises us with different culinary proposals, but there is even more as from the 21st to the 28th will take place the 'Literary Gastronomic Exhibition'. Don't let them tell you about it!
The month of April in Alcalá de Henares has begun with the VI Certamen de Alcalá Gastronómica-Fomentur that is organized by the City council of Alcalá and its area of Tourism, in collaboration with the Escuela de Hostelería, the Asociación de Empresarios del Henares (AEDHE) and the hoteliers of Alcalá Gastronómica.
The objective is none other than to value creativity and culinary skills in order to compete and obtain the long-awaited 'gastroesferas', a trophy created by the Valencian designer José Carlos Pastor, on 25 April.
The 21 local participants will be Miguel de Cervantes, Al´Andalus, Parador de Turismo de Alcalá de Henares, Hemisferio Loft, La Casa Vieja, Restaurante Nino, El Corte Inglés, Restaurante Goya, Tempranillo Restaurante Vinoteca, Ki-Jote, Plademunt. El Restaurante Imaginario, Skrei Noruego, La Terraza del Mercado, La Cátedra, La Cúpula, Casino, Sexto Sentido, Martilota, Nök, Elena and Guxtos.
In addition, and as in previous editions, there will be an honorary recognition to a key figure in Spanish gastronomy, with the Cervantes Gastronomic Prize.
But in addition, and as we told you, from April 21 to 28 during the Muestra Gastronómica Literaria (Literary Gastronomic Exhibition) organized by the association of hoteliers of Alcalá de Henares, the flavours of Uruguay will flood the town as it will pay tribute to the person awarded on April 23 in the auditorium of the University, whose award this year corresponds to the Uruguayan poet Ida Vitale.
