All year long to enjoy a complete and extensive series of activities around the incomparable figure of Federico García Lorca, which commemorates the 100 years that have passed since the brilliant poet settled in Madrid, in the Student Residence, to consecrate himself as the figure he became, his influence in gatherings, conferences and, above all, the legacy he has left us.
Until the end of November, a succession of events are scheduled to enhance the figure of Lorca and his presence in Madrid. Conferences, exhibitions, theatre plays, cinema, festivals, music and even live poetry recitals recall the sensitivity and creative capacity of this brilliant artist.
We review the most important programmed activities, beginning with the cycle of 16 conferences that will take place in 6 days, during the days 18 to 23 February in different scenarios, with speakers from three countries and extensive literary content, set in the time that Federico lived.
Its leap into dramaturgy will be analysed, thanks to the performance at the Teatros del Canal of a Lorca cycle on 3, 4 and 5 May, as well as the co-production by the Community of Madrid at the Teatro Español of the play "La Comedia sin título. El sueño de la vida" (Comedy without title. The dream of life).
In the night of the books that will be celebrated on 19 April, there is a specific space for the figure of Lorca, with the participation of more than 600 authors and creators, in different institutions, libraries and bookshops.
In the different stages of the Festival de Otoño (Autumn Festival), their works will be represented with the special section of a Creation Laboratory around "Blood Weddings". In the series of Conferences and Exhibitions, "Women in the Arts" stands out, an event which tackles the role of women in the poet's work, as well as the exhibition "Red Itiner", which will tour 11 municipalities in the Community of Madrid, dedicated to the years he spent in the capital.
Finally, in the Short Film Week, during the first week of April, and in the Cinema Marathon on the 1st and 2nd of May, you will be able to see part of the works taken to the big screen of the brilliant creator from Granada.
A complete program of activities that we cannot miss.
