On the occasion of Ventura Rodríguez's 300th anniversary, the architect par excellence of the Enlightenment, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando is hosting more than one hundred and fifty original pieces, some of them unpublished or never exhibited, from national and international institutions and private collections until 8 April.
Organized by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Region of Madrid, the Secretary of State for Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, takes place the exhibition 'Ventura Rodríguez, arquitecto de la Ilustración'.
This exhibition, claims the importance of the architect in the history of Spanish architecture of the Enlightenment, especially in Madrid. Structured in five chronological blocks, it will allow us to know in depth from its period of formation and its first projects, passing through the reign of Fernando VI and the works influenced by the Roman baroque, the most complex and fortunate years of work under the reign of Charles III, until its final trajectory.
Thus, we will discover his great skill and sensitivity as an illustrator, whose illustrations are preserved in institutions such as the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, the National Library of Madrid or the already remembered Accademia di San Luca of Rome, as well as in the Museum of History of the City of Madrid, in its Municipal Archive or the National Historical Archive, the Royal Palace and other public and private collections.
With the different works, we will find audiovisual material, with which we will know the projected and non-built work of Ventura Rodríguez, such as the project he carried out to access the Accademia di San Luca Roca, around a cathedral.
In parallel to the exhibition, there will be an extensive programme of guided visits with the aim of reaching all audiences. If you are interested, you will only have to subscribe in this link, where you will find all the information related to these visits, which will be distributed in three categories: families, adults and educational centres.
